The agriculture ministry has asked the comptroller and auditor general to hold in abeyance its proposed audit of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) accounts for the years 1988-89 and 1995-96 pending legal clarifications. On June 6, the then minister for animal husbandry and dairying, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh had given clearance to the CAG for auditing the NDDB accounts despite objections raised by the board on the ground that no provision for CAG audit existed in the relevant act of Parliament, NDDB sources said.
