The Supreme Court yesterday directed Doordarshan (DD) to telecast the serial, Chandrakanta, which was abruptly stopped midway two years ago during the peak of its popularity. Prime Channel, which produced the serial, has been fighting a legal battle ever since.
The division bench consisting of Justice G N Ray and Justice G B Pattanaik passed its order on the appeal of the company against an order of the Delhi High Court last year.
According to the order, the serial could be telecast under modified terms and conditions.

The remaining 58 episodes of the serial would be telecast with four recapitulatory episodes to begin with. It would be given the slot now given to Om Namasivaya, that is one hour on Monday from 2130 hours.
The producers of Chandrakanta will have to pay a minimum guarantee of Rs 37 lakh for the first 13 episodes and Rs 46 lakh for the remaining ones.
