Wipro Net Up To Rs 23.45cr

Wipro Ltd has recorded a four-fold increase in its net profit of Rs 23.45 crore during the first half of 1997-98 from Rs 5.46 crore last year corresponding period.

The companys turnover has also jumped considerably to Rs 602.5 crore this first half from Rs 529.44 crore made last corresponding period.

Wipro Ltd, which also consists of Wipro Infotech group, has increased its software exports in the first half year to Rs 163.1 crore compared to Rs 119.3 crore in the same period last year.

The Wipro group has planned to mop up a turnover of Rs 1900 crore for the year 1997-98 against the Rs 1614 crore turnover notched up for the year ended March 31, 1997.

Wipros Infotech group has projected a software export target of Rs 400 crore for the current fiscal year. Software exports of Wipro Corporation were Rs 273 crore registering a 57 per cent rise in revenue over the last financial year. The groups main revenue comes from its infotech group comprising various companies.
