For his efforts of 51 (33 balls) with the bat and  4/33 with the ball, both of which are his best-ever performances in the T20I format, he was adjudged Player of the Match

Thanks to a dominating performance with both bat and ball from Hardik Pandya, Men in Blue registered a comfortable 50-run win over the hosts to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. 

 

Batting first, India scored a brilliant 198-8 at the end of their 20 overs, but at one point it seemed that even that was not enough because run-making seemed pretty easy during the Indian innings. 

 

Later on, though, the English were not able to pick the Indian bowlers and they got all out for only 148 on the board, eventually losing the match by 50 runs.
