Joining the telecom tariff war, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the country's largest telecom service provider, today unveiled mobile STD at Re 1 and local call at 60 paise a minute for a 15-second pulse rate under a monthly fixed charge of Rs 999 for its post-paid users. | |
The PSU has also launched another post-paid mobile plan with a monthly rental of Rs 999, which comes bundled with a Cellone Axia A108 handset, where customers can make free calls worth Rs 700.

The move follows Reliance Infocomm's announcement on Sunday offering free outgoing calls up to Rs 2,000 on some of its new handsets in addition to lower local and STD tariffs.

BSNL's post-paid plan has a registration charge of Rs 500 and a one-time activation charge of Rs 200.

Under the plan, the tariff will be 60 paise per minute for local calls within the BSNL network. Calls to other networks will cost Re 1 per minute.

For STD calls, the tariff would be Re 1 a minute within the network and Rs 1.60 per minute to other networks, the company said.
