Finnish handset giant Nokia today said it will form a joint venture with an investment firm New Alliance to offer mobile services in China.
Chines investment company New Alliance is part of the Shanghai Alliance Investment.
In a statement, Nokia said it has joined forces with New Alliance to form a 50:50 joint venture company to offer a range of mobile services in China and support the local developer ecosystem.
The JV firm would be called Nokia Alliance Internet Services Company. It would offer services in January 2010 and involve about 80 people.
"As Nokia is entering the services business in China, establishing this joint venture is a natural step to help us bring locally relevant mobile services to Chinese consumers," Nokia Executive Vice-President (Services) Niklas Savander said.
