, managing director, British Telecom India. In college, he built himself a music system, but today Narang is quite content buying swanky gadgets straight off the shelf. His thirst for the latest technology remains unquenched.

What is the geekiest thing you have ever done?
When I was in college, I created a complete sound system for my room by buying an old cassette player, soldered together an amplifier from old parts and placed speakers in earthen pots. It was not only fun and crazy but also my first real sound system, which I will never forget.

Is there a gadget that you are secretly proud of?
On a personal level, I'm particularly proud of the Sony FM 7.1 receiver with state-of-the-art surround sound powered by Jamo speakers. At work, it is my real-time gadget that becomes the indispensable corporate tool "" my BlackBerry mobile.

If you could, what kind of dream gadget would you build?
A fully equipped flying car with no carbon emissions. One might view this as a childish thought, but according to me it's all about being a futurologist and sustainability.

Have your gadgets ever come to your rescue?
They always do. Whether it's my iPod that helps me pass time when flights take forever to land or take off, or my BlackBerry that connects even during the worst traffic snarls on my way to work or home.

Which of your gadgets do you like to show off?
My music system is definitely a state-of-the-art gadget that everyone is enamoured of. Also, my home projection kit gives me a personal kick "" it's definitely a high to own a sound and movie console.

What ultra-expensive gadget have you bought or would you like to buy in the near future?
A home projection system with a three-dimensional view and a virtual gaming console for my kids.

Is there one technology that you have been personally interested in?
I am quite interested in wireless technology and am looking at setting up a media adaptor wireless unit at my residence.
