Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has bagged an eight-year end-to-end IT applications services contract from Scottish Water, a UK-based utility firm, worth Rs 454 crore (£60 million).

The deal, apart from delivering an extended level of service, will also save Scottish Water a minimum of £8 million (Rs 63.2 crore) in operating expenditure over the next eight years, TCS said.

Under the terms of the contract, TCS will consolidate Scottish Water's existing applications and transform information management to enhance delivery of IT services to the business. The tender involved 136 companies.

TCS has been selected as the only partner for application management and support, strategic enterprise information, business intelligence and integration services.

This includes operational management of these services and development of applications, integration, and business intelligence reporting.

TCS will also participate in development framework for enterprise package implementations with four other partners.

Europe's contribution to the company's revenues is close to 29 per cent. UK's share is 19.4 per cent. For the fourth quarter ended march 31, 2008, revenues from UK crossed $1 billion (about Rs 4,000 crore).

A S Lakshminarayanan, vice-president and head, TCS UK & Ireland, said, "We are thrilled to be involved in this exciting project."

That we won all the pieces of work that we bid for shows that customers are starting to understand our commitment to an unparalleled certainty of delivery and customer experience."
