Shankar Acharya is a veteran economist and the chancellor of Andhra Pradesh Central University. He served as India's longest-serving chief economic advisor (CEA), advising three successive finance ministers: (Late) Dr Manmohan Singh, P Chidambaram, and Yashwant Sinha over a span of eight years. He also served as a member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi). He has also worked at the World Bank, where he led the team for the World Development Report 1979 and later served as a research advisor to the Bank. He has a Ph.D from Harvard University and a B.A. from Oxford University.
