From J&J, Strides Arcolab has bought brands such as Otogesic eardrops, Ethnorub ointment, Stugil tablets, etc in the dermatology, anti-emetic and pain management segments.
The Chennai-based Medispan, which manufactures pharmaceutical formulations and nutritional specialities, is the pharmaceutical unit of Shriram Group. With the acquisition of stake in Medispan, Strides Arcolab has gained entry into niche probiotics segment. The business in its entirety (including IPs and manpower) will be transferred to an SPV, Strides Biologix Pvt Ltd, in which Strides will hold 51 percent. The comoany also get access to established brands such as Lactovit and Lactogut.
According to Strides, the acquired portfolios have a combined revenue potential of Rs 32 crore in FY2015-16.
