The richest candidates did not have it easy. Only one of the top five managed to win in Uttar Pradesh. Even he, Shah Alam urf Guddu Jamali was trailing at Mubarakpur before romping home by a few hundred votes. Other losers did not even manage the second place. one of them even lost the deposit. A Nawab bit the dust but a Rani won. Money was not everything in this election.
