Radisson Group looking at doubling hotel portfolio in India: South Asia MD

Belgium-headquartered Radisson Hotel Group is eyeing to double its portfolio in India in the next few years, from over 200 operational hotels at present, with a focus on a sustainable and inclusive growth model, according to a senior company official. In an interview to PTI, Radisson Hotel Group Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer for South Asia Nikhil Sharma said its hotel in Pahalgam is currently operating at an occupancy rate of 20-30 per cent of what the occupancies were last year, in the aftermath of the recent terror attack on tourists that shook the nation. Notably, Radisson is the largest luxury hotel chain in Jammu and Kashmir, with seven hotels in operation, including five in the valley, and 2-3 hotels in the pipeline. Oyo adds 3,500 new corporate clients in FY25, logs 20% annual growth

Global travel tech platform OYO on Friday said its business accelerator division added 3,500 new corporate clients in FY25, recording 20 per cent growth year-on-year. The growth in the company's corporate portfolio indicates a rebound in business travel in India post-Covid. OYO now has a network of over 6,500 corporate clients with this addition. Mumbai emerged as the top-performing market, adding over 700 new corporate clients in the past year, followed by Hyderabad with 400, and Pune with 350. Other major metro cities, including Chennai and Bengaluru, also played a key role in the surge in corporate accounts. OYO has also recorded a surge in long stays and event-based stays with the corporate clients. Kolkata hotel fire: Owner, manager arrested after blaze kills 14 people

The owner and the manager of the central Kolkata hotel, where a devastating fire killed 14 people, were arrested on Thursday, police said. Akash Chawla, the owner of Rituraj Hotel, and manager Gaurav Kapoor were taken into custody in the morning, they said. A suo motu case was registered at the Jorasanko police station under various sections of the BNS, including 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), and the West Bengal Fire Services Act against them, they added. Police said 12 of the 14 bodies recovered from the hotel were identified and their post-mortem examinations completed. These bodies have been handed over to their families, they said, adding that efforts were underway to ascertain the identities of the remaining two bodies. There were 88 guests in 42 rooms of the six-storey budget hotel, located in Mechhua in the congested Burrabazar area, when the fire broke out at 8.10 pm on Tuesday.
