Electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy on Saturday unveiled a new two-wheeler platform for a new generation of electric scooters across multiple segments. The company also announced a series of other significant product and technology developments, including showcasing a concept moto-scooter Redux, and AtherStack 7.0, which would alert riders to share live location, report on potholes and crashes, update them on tyre pressure, among others. Built for versatility, scalability, and cost optimisation, the new e-scooter platform is the first vehicle architecture since the launch of Ather 450, the company announced at an event here. Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday launched the first scheme to provide customer facing incentives on purchase of electric trucks of up to Rs 9.6 lakh per vehicle as part of the government's PM E-DRIVE initiative, which has earmarked Rs 500 crore for electric trucks out of its Rs 10,900 crore outlay. Industries including ports, logistics, cement and steel will be the key beneficiaries of the scheme, which envisages support of up to 5,600 electric trucks. "Diesel trucks, though constituting only 3 per cent of the total vehicle population, contribute to 42 per cent of transport-related greenhouse gas emissions and significantly worsen air pollution. Servotech Power Systems will invest Rs 300 crore to set up an EV charger manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh as part of an agreement with the state government. The manufacturing facility is being set up under the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022, the company said in a statement on Saturday. Servotech Power has signed an MoU with the Uttar Pradesh government in this regard, it said. The MoU was signed by Servotech's MD Raman Bhatia and UP's Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi'. Invest UP CEO Abhishek Prakash and other senior officials of the state government were also present on the occasion. Okaya Electric Vehicles on Friday said it has launched high-speed e-scooter Faast at an introductory price of Rs 89,999 (before subsidies) at the EV Expo 21 held at Greater Noida. The company also announced the opening of bookings with an initial payment of Rs 1,999 through the Okaya EV website or at dealerships, it said in a release. Besides, Okaya also showcased its upcoming e-motorcycle Ferrato, which is expected to be launched in the second quarter of FY22. The IoT-enabled e-scooter offers a top speed of 60-70 kmph and a range of 150-200 km per charge, depending on usage. It comes packed with features and specs such as a 4.4 kW lithium phosphate battery, all LED lights, digital instrument cluster, daytime running lights and combi braking system, the company said.
