Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) and MG Motor India on Sunday said they are facing challenges in terms of component supply from coronavirus hit-China. M&M has reported a 42 per cent decline in total sales at 32,476 units in February. "...because of the unforeseeable challenges on the parts-supply from China, our BS VI ramp-up has been affected," Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales and Marketing, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd said in a statement. This has resulted in high de-growth in billing volume for February and dealer inventory is now under 10 days, he said. "Going into March, we anticipate the challenge on parts-supply to continue for another few weeks, before we get back to normalcy," he added. Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) on Saturday reported a 4 per cent increase in tractor sales at 23,116 units in January. The company had sold 22,212 tractors in the same month last year. Domestic sales increased 7 per cent to 22,329 units in January as compared with 20,948 units of tractor sold in the same month of2019, the company said in a statement. However, exports declined 38 per cent to 787 units in the previous month as compared with 1,264 units in January 2019, it said. "We have sold 22,329 tractors in the domestic market during January with a growth of 7 per cent over last year. The tractor demand is likely to see positive momentum, led by the expectations of a good Rabi output and the government's renewed focus on rural sector through higher allocation as announced in the Union Budget," M&M Farm Equipment Sector President Rajesh Jejurikar said.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Tuesday said its compact SUV XUV300 has received five-star rating for adult occupant protection from Global NCAP, an international safety accreditation body. The XUV300 becomes the first Indian vehicle to score the highest points among all five-star rated cars tested so far by Global NCAP, the auto major said in a statement. The vehicle also becomes the first Indian vehicle to score a four-star child safety rating, it added. "This is a proud moment for Mahindra as the 5-Star rating reiterates our unstinted commitment towards safety. Today's conscious buyers rate safety as a top priority while making their purchase decision and we have designed the XUV300 to be one of the safest vehicles in India," M&M President-Automotive Rajan Wadhera said.
