Budget Byte: Post-pandemic Budget will need to focus on ignored sectors

Sensing the need of the time, the government focused its spend on health, rural economy and cash support to farmers and others. Departments that look after these areas saw either a spending higher than the full-year Budget to date, or considerably more than the average of last three years.

In what would be logical, funds to some departments, which have been underlined as priority areas by the government, got restricted. MSMEs, education, India’s police forces might need more support in the coming year to realign their development and spending goals.
