Samajwadi Party critical of Railway Budget

It lamented that the Budget neglected large parts of UP in its proposals of new rail routes

BS Reporter Lucknow

The ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh today criticised the Railway Budget for allegedly discriminating against UP, which is India's most populated state.

It lamented that the Budget neglected large parts of UP in its proposals of new rail routes.

SP further said the Budget amply proved that the Centre was more focussed towards foreign direct investment (FDI) and private sector than marshalling its own resources for growth.

The party warned railway amenities would become costlier and beyond reach in future if depended upon foreign resources for completing its projects.

Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said the Budget had failed to cater the needs of general passengers, who routinely faced inconvenience during travel.
