Scaler Pledges Scholarships Worth INR 1 Crore to Uplift Women in Tech
.

Women’s Day 2021 will be a day to remember. Many women still strive to break stereotypes and socio-economic barriers while no stone has been left unturned to prove the worth of men in tech. Therefore, an EdTech startup, Scaler, has taken a quantum leap for the better!
In the age of incremental progress of reducing gender disparity in the world of tech, Scaler, renowned for its strategic approach of churning out the nation’s most laudable software engineers, has embarked on a journey to reduce the gender gap in the tech world. While only about 26% of the tech roles being occupied by women, Scaler has ambitions to push the number to 50% by the end of this decade with their new female-oriented program called Scaler Include.
To kick things off, Scaler has pledged a monumental amount of INR 1 crore to bridge the gender gap, empower women and diversify the Indian tech workforce! The amount that has been set aside will provide scholarships to 1,000 women in India to enrol in Scaler Academy based on their merit.
Scaler Academy’s learning programs are known to be intensive and rewarding while being flexible. With one-on-one mentorship and an industry-relevant curriculum taught by top-of-the-line engineers from Facebook, Hotstar and more, Scaler aims to tap into the untapped potential of Indian women software engineers through Scaler Include.
In the words of Abhimanyu Saxena, the co-founder of Scaler, “While we have seen mild growth in the proportion of female software engineers in India, we are yet to build a truly equitable tech workforce. Women are often not encouraged to be as ambitious as their male counterparts because of an added, unfair expectation to get married quickly, start a family or tend to elders. We will help women avail Scaler-sponsored and employer-sponsored scholarships. We also understand that women might need more flexibility and have launched an industry first 'Course Pause' feature, allowing women learners to pause their Scaler Academy course at no cost. As we partner with more employers to build an inclusive tech workforce in India, we are keen to build upskilling programs that cater to other underrepresented communities. We hope to launch similar initiatives for the LGBTQ community and people with special abilities soon.”
For starters, the launch of Scaler Include and celebration of Women’s Day will be followed by giving out merit-based scholarship to the winners of CodeX-For-Her, an all-women coding contest and networking occasion. CodeX-For-Her is an event planned to empower women software engineers in service and product-based companies.
The event will span over two days in the month of March and will feature uplifting speeches from the best women leaders in the tech world. Companies and employers may register their female candidates if they wish to encourage them to upskill themselves.
Even with the current rate of urbanization, women still have to put in double the effort and triple the sacrifices to simply prove their potential. The event is all set to make its mark in history and to celebrate Women’s Day unlike ever before by providing a platform to showcase women empowerment and an opportunity for women to shine!
