Who is G. Kishan Reddy?

G. Kishan Reddy is serving as the Minister of Coal and Minister of Mines in the current Modi government. Kishan Reddy has been actively involved in politics for several decades and has held various positions within the BJP. Here are some key details about him:
 
Personal Life and Education: Gangapuram Kishan Reddy was born in Timmapur village in Rangareddy district of Telangana to G. Swamy Reddy and Andalamma.
 

Political Career:
  • Reddy started his political career as a youth leader of the Janta Party in 1977. Later he joined the BJP after its formation in 1980 as a full-time member. He became the state treasurer of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Andhra Pradesh in 1982.
  • From 1983 to 1984 he was Bharatiya Janata Party State Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Andhra Pradesh.
  • From 1994 to 2001 he was the National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
  • From 2001 to 2002 he was the State Treasurer, State Spokesperson & Head Quarter Incharge of Bharatiya Janata Party, Andhra Pradesh.
  • From 2002 to 2004 he was the National President of the BJYM. In 2004 to 2005 he was the State GS and official spokesperson, BJP Andhra Pradesh.
  • From 2004 to 2014, he served as an Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly member.
  • From 2014 to 2018, he served as a Telangana Legislative Assembly member.
  • In May 2019 he was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from Secunderabad constituency, Telangana.
 
Ministerial Positions:
  • On 30 May 2019, he was sworn in as Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs in the Government of India. From 2019 to 2021 he served as Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India (Served along with Nityanand Rai).
  • In 2021 he served as Union Cabinet Minister for Ministry of Culture; Ministry of Tourism; and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.
  • From 11 June 2024 onwards he is serving as Union Minister of Coal and Mines.

Being a member of the BJP, his political views generally align with the party's platform, which includes advocating for cultural nationalism, economic reforms, and a strong national security framework.
