Ishant Sharma is an Indian cricketer and represents Delhi Capitals in Indian Premier League. Ishant busted into the international scenes by bowling a dream spell to Australian legend Ricky Ponting during Perth Test in 2018. He was drafted into the Indian squad for Australia tour after he took 5-140 against Pakistan at flat track of M Chinnaswamy stadium. Ishant started playing cricket at the age of 14 and four years later made Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi.
Domestic career
Ishant Sharma plays domestic cricket for Delhi and made a first-class debut against Tamil Nadu on November 23, 2006. He made a dream debut taking four wickets in the first innings. He became 9th Indian cricketer to play for England's county team Sussex in 2018.
IPL career
In the first auctions of IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders bagged the young Ishan Sharma for $ 950,000. He made his IPL debut against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 18, 2008. In the first season, Ishant picked 8 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 41.37 and an economy rate of 7.66. He moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab before playing for Delhi Capitals. Overall, he has scalped 72 wickets in 89 matches at an average of 35.83 and an economy of 8.09. His best bowling figures in IPL are 5-12.
Test career
Ishant Sharma made his Test debut against Bangladesh at Shere Bangla National Stadium on May 25, 2007. He came to the limelight after bowling a brilliantly against Australian legend Ricky Ponting during India Tour of Down Under in 2007-2008. Overall, he has taken 297 wickets in 97 Tests at an average of 32.39 with 11 five-wicket hauls and one 10-wicket haul.
ODI career
Ishant made his One Day International debut against South Africa at Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast on June 29, 2007. Overall, in 80 matches he scalped 115 wickets at an average of 30.97 and an economy rate of 5.73. His best bowling figures in ODIs are 4-34.
T20 International career
The 195 cm tall Indian pacer made his T20 International debut against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on February 1, 2008. He last represented India in T20s on October 10, 2013, against the same opponent. Overall, he took 8 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 50 and an economy rate of 8.63.
