Newly elected president of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) C V Prasad said the association would try hard to bring the annual travel mart of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) to Hyderabad in the near future.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Prasad said the successful conclusion of the Indian Travel Congress had showcased the tourism potential of Andhra Pradesh besides the world-class facilities available in Hyderabad to the country's travel and tourism community.

"This will also help in achieving our goal of attracting investments in travel and tourism sectors to Andhra Pradesh," he said, adding that the tourism policy of the state government, which is expected shortly, will play a catalyst for the growth of the state's tourism business.

Explaining the significance of hosting the PATA's travel mart, he said about 15,000 travel agencies across the globe take part in this annual event and the average business tie ups was worth over $2 billion during the event.

While pointing out the fact that Andhra Pradesh was not able to find a place in a single world travel and tourism itinerary aimed at India, Prasad expressed confidence that things would change in the near future.
