Adani Power registers its CDM project under UNFCCC

Adani Power Ltd has received certification of its super critical technology based upcoming project at Mundra from United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the company announced on Wednesday.

According to an official release from Adani Power Ltd., it is the world's first project based on super-critical technology to get registered as a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project by the United Nations body authorized under Kyoto Protocol to register such projects after elaborate and stringent scrutiny.

APL is setting-up 9240 MW thermal power generation capacity; 4620 MW at Mundra, Gujarat, 3300 MW at Tiroda, Maharashtra and 1320 MW at Kawai, Rajasthan. Out of total 9240 MW capacity, more than 85 per cent is based on environment friendly super-critical technology. The first two Super-critical units of 660 MW each at Mundra, which are expected to be commissioned in 2010-11, have received the registration.
