Embedded design provider and semi-conductor technology firm AppliedMicro has said, it expects to generate approximately $200 million revenue over next three years from its newly started development centre in Pune. The company plans to recruit around 300 executives over next three years at Pune centre, which has been set up at an initial investment of $25 million.

Based in California, the company has three development centres in the USA along with one each in Canada, Vietnam and India. The Pune centre would work on development of AppliedMicro's resources in IC design, system engineering and software development segment. "We will focus on chip and system development to enhance our efforts in the embedded computing market," said AppliedMicro president and CEO Paramesh Gopi.

The company is planning to develop a 10GHz capacity processor from its newly opened centre in Pune. "Out of the four chips being designed this year by AppliedMicro, one would be completely designed in Pune while the rest three would have contributions from Pune team. The centre would generate approximately 35 per cent of company's total global revenue during year 2009. The revenue share from Pune would grow up to 60 per cent over next three years," Gopi added.

During the present calendar year, the company plans to concentrate on three major business segments namely applications, small and medium businesses and telecommunication.

"These three segments have a global market potential of $1,790 million and we plan to bag maximum projects out of this," Gopi stated.
