Faced with a dearth of skilled workforce, most of the CEOs in the country are spending more time on dealing with talent management-related activities, says a Monster.Com survey.

Leading job portal Monster.Com said that 73% of Indian CEOs spent over one-fourth of their time directly on talent-related activities.

The findings are based on a survey of CEOs from 114 leading companies across diverse sectors.

About 80% of the participants said that human resource issues were core to their companies' success.

"The increasing fear of unavailability of the right talent to execute their companies' strategies is leading CEOs to discuss people challenges more and more at the boardrooms," Monster.Com said in a statement today.

About 68% of the respondents said that time spend for talent-related activities had gone up in the recent years while 79% noted that such focus would increase further next year.

"Most CEOs today play the role of the Chief Talent Officers. It is imperative for the CEOs to attract, develop and retain the right talent as people are the biggest differentiator today for any business," Monster.Com's Managing Director (India, Middle East & South East Asia) Sanjay Modi said.

As per the survey, around 70% of the respondents spend maximum time on leadership planning and development.
