Chiefs of four telecom companies — Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular and Telenor — are likely to meet communications and information technology minister Kapil Sibal on Wednesday on the issue of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's proposals on auction of spectrum. Bharti Airtel Chairman and Managing Director Sunil Bharti Mittal, Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao, Telenor CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas and Idea Cellular Chairman Kumar Managalam Birla are likely to meet Sibal on Wednesday, according to people aware of the development. The telecom industry has been up in arms against Trai's proposals, which came out last week and has said the high base price of spectrum will increase mobile tariffs by up to 25-30 per cent.
