Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) have joined hands to promote renewable energy in the state. The two bodies are jointly organising a conference-cum-exposition here on September 9, to deliberate on ‘Renewable Energy— Fuelling the future’.

This is the first time that the issue of renewable energy and its development, is being addressed at such a massive scale in the state, wherein both the government and industry share a common platform. “The event would help create awareness about renewable energy and its scope,” UPNEDA director Nitishwar Kumar told Business Standard.

The government, corporates, technocrats and research & academic institutes would deliberate on the ways in which the energy requirements of the future could be met. The conclave would be attended by scientists, academicians, senior state government officials and over 150 CII delegates.

UPNEDA has invited bids from private companies or consortiums for setting up 11 small hydro power projects all over the state. The proposed plants with tentative installed capacity of over 11,000 Kilowatt, are to be developed in Meerut, Jhansi, Jalaun, Banda, Pilibhit and Varanasi districts.
