Cochin Port has achieved record productivity in handling bulk cargo. The port recently handled 10,024 tonne of industrial salt in bulk, which is the highest-ever quantity of industrial salt handled in a day.
Another productivity record was achieved in the second week of this month when it handled urea at an average daily output of over 5,000 tonne.
With the shifting of the container terminal operations from the Willingdon Island to Vallarpadam, two deep draft berths and a large backup area are available for handling various types of bulk cargoes at the Willingdon Island, a port release said.
