Nagarjuna Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (NFCL) commissioned a carbondioxide recovery (CDR) plant with a capacity of 450 metric tonne per day (MTPD) at its existing urea production facilities at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.
This would remove some of the bottlenecks in urea production and reduce the subsidy burden of the government. NFCL in 2007-08 revamped the urea production capacity by around 50,000 tonne per annum .
Nagarjuna Fertilisers has two urea manufacturing units each with a capacity of 600,000 tpa. While unit -1 is operating on natural gas, Unit II is running on naphtha due to shortage of gas, a company release said. The company is looking for improved gas supply from Reliance Industries.
