Dow AgroSciences LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the $4.5-billion Dow Chemical Company, has identified a new lead molecule in alliance with GVK Biosciences, Asia’s leading Contract Research Organisation. The compound has been selected for its ability to address a key product goal in sSupport of Dow AgroSciences’ growing agricultural chemicals business.

“The discovery is an outcome of three years of research. It will progress into field trails, pre-development and development phases in two-three years from now, and will take a couple of years more for the compound to be marketed,” said J B Gupta, senior vice-president (collaborative research), GVK Bio.

The discovery research agreement with GVK Bio was signed in May 2008 with the goal to generate novel molecules for synthesis and testing as fungicides and insecticides.
