DSM Engineering Plastics has tripled its manufacturing capacity in India, with the commissioning of its new plant at Ranjangaon in Pune. The newly-installed unit will produce most of the DSM’s established brands such as Akulon-PA6, Arnite-PBT, Arnite-PET and Stanyl-PA46. With this, DSM Engineering Plastics will become the largest manufacturer of polyamide and polyester compoundings in the country.

The plant will manufacture engineered plastic components, required in automotive, electrical, electronics and consumer goods industries, a press release of the company said. DSM has been directly marketing and manufacturing engineering plastics in India since 1999. The new facility further improves customer service levels and gives Indian customers enhanced access to the DSM’s global technology base.

“We will apply the same high technology and environmental standards as used at our other manufacturing operations around the world. The plant is fully equipped with compounding technology. The design of the manufacturing facility allows for additional capacity expansion to accommodate further growth in demand in the future,” Nico Gerardu, member of the managing board of DSM, said. The India operations of DSM include clients such as Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Motors, Honda, Toyota.
