"We are hopeful of achieving turnover of Rs 150 crore from our seven operational multiplexes comprising 22 screens by this year-end," DT Cinemas Vice President (Marketing) Rajat Kumar said .
The company, which had already announced an investment of Rs 1,250 crore to open 500 screens in the next 4-5 five years in the country, today announced the opening of a multiplex with three screens in DLF Infocity at the Rajiv Gandhi Technology Park here.
"We will have three screens in our newly opened multiplex in Chandigarh while rest of screens, which are operational, are in NCR region," he said.
As part of its expansion plan, the company would also open screens at Savitri-GK2, Shalimar Bagh, Vasant Kunj and Saket in Delhi and at Star Mall in Gurgaon this year," DT Cinemas, CEO and Director Kajal Aijaz said.
Apart from the north Indian cities, DT Cinemas also plans to set up multiplexes in Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Goa and Kolkata, she said.
With shortage of 40,000 screens in India, the multiplex business is poised to reflect the growing demand for a quality movie going experience, she said.
