Essar Steel today reported a 60.7% increase in crude steel production during the month of April to 3.97 lakh tonne (LT).
The company produced 2.47 LT of crude steel in the same month last year, Essar Steel said in a statement.
Essar Steel had produced 3.8 LT of crude steel in March this year, reporting over 24% growth over March, 2010, output.
The company is increasing steel-making capacity at its Hazira facility to 10 million tonne per annum (mtpa).
