General Motors India today reported a 33.46% jump in its sales in July 2011 at 9,508 as compared to the same month last year.
The company had recorded sales of 7,124 units in July last year, General Motors India Vice-President P Balendran said.
During July 2011 the company sold 1,502 units of small car Spark, 5,255 units of hatchback Beat, 62 units of premium hatchback UVA, 125 units of entry level sedan Aveo, 123 units of mid-sized sedan Optra and 621 units of luxury sedan Cruze.
The company also sold 1,707 units of multi-purpose vehicle Tavera and 113 units of sports utility vehicle Captiva, Balendran said.
"The growth was primarily driven by the overwhelming response to the newly launched Chevrolet Beat Diesel... Although we have registered 34% growth, the market continues to be sluggish due to the repeated hike in interest rates and fuel prices," Balendran said.
