Glove maker SMR to up capacity 5-fold

St Marys Rubbers Private Ltd (SMR), a manufacturer of surgical gloves, plans to expand its capacity by five-fold in the next two years. For this, it will install four production lines to enhance its total capacity to 35 -40 million pairs per month from the existing 7 million pairs.

"SMR would invest Rs 150 crore for the capacity expansion and target a turnover of Rs 2,000 crore by 2017-18," said Sunny Jacob, its MD, and added the second production line will be ready soon.
