Bangalore-based GMR Infrastructure, the infrastructure major with interests in airports, energy, highways and urban infrastructure sectors, has announced the synchronisation of the first unit of its 2x300 Mw coal-based power project at Warora near Nagpur in Maharashtra on December 10, 2012. This is the company's first coal-based power plant to be synchronised.
Work on commissioning the second unit is in progress. The BTG supply for the plant is from Shanghai Electric, China. The project has been implemented on multiple packages concept. The project will primarily cater to part of power needs of the western sector of the country.
The company has 16 power generation assets of which five are operational and 11 are under various stages of implementation and 10 road assets, of which six are operational and four are under construction.
