The fourth edition of the Hitex International Machine Tool Expo 2012 (Himtex 2012), which is scheduled from August 23 here, is expecting more than 12,000 visitors this year, according to KV Nagendra Prasad chief operating officer, HITEX.

The four-day B-2-B (business-to-business) event is a platform for micro, small, medium and large industries to showcase their innovation, technology and products. It expects around 150 exhibitors including Ace Micro Matics and Hyundai, he said.

Lokeshwar Rao, president, Lokesh Machines Limited, said, “Indian machine tools industry had generated Rs 10,000 crore revenue in 2010-11, of which the domestic production is of around 40 per cent. There is a huge potential for growth and the industry offers immense opportunities for existing enterprises to grow.”

Along with the event, Hitex is also organising a three-day Process Engineering Expo and Conference from August 23. The event offers a forum for process technologists, entrepreneurs, engineers and procurements managers in core sectors including cement, chemicals, steel and power.

“Around 300 participants and delegates from organisations including NMDC, BHEL and Godrej are expected to participate in the event,” Prasad told mediapersons here.
