The state government through Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Orissa (Idco) has acquired and allotted 9863.22 acres of government land to 49 out of the 88 companies across sectors that have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with it.
The government land has been offered to the companies in the range of Rs 25,000-Rs three lakh per acre, according to state minister for industries Raghunath Mohanty.
Land has so far been allotted to 34 steel companies, two aluminium players, two companies in the cement sector, one in the oil refinery and seven Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
In Angul district, Idco has allotted 958.36 acres of land to Jindal Steel & Power Ltd at Kerjang. In Jagatsinghpur district, 671.89 acres of government land has been allocated to two mega steel players at Paradeep- Posco India (568.91 acres) and Essar Steel (102.98 acres).
In Jajpur district, Idco has allotted a total of 1539.17 acres to six steel players- Visa Steel Ltd (89.28 acres) , Maithan Ispat Ltd (123.63 acres), Tata Steel Ltd (540.42 acres), JSL Ltd 575.03 acres), Uttam Galva Steels Ltd (177.87 acres) and Brahmani River Pellets Ltd (32.94 acres) within the Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex.
In the aluminium sector- Idco has allotted 1845 acres to two MoU signed companies- Vedanta Aluminium Ltd (VAL) and Aditya Alumina Ltd.
VAL has been given 512.62 acres of government land at Burkhamunda near Jharsuguda for its aluminium smelter plant and CPP. The company has also been allotted 448.98 acres of government land at Lanjigarh for its one million tonne per annum (mtpa) alumina refinery.
In the cement sector, two players- OCL India Ltd and Toshali Cements Pvt Ltd have got 217.27 acres from Idco.
Seven IPPs- Monnet Power Company at Malibrahmani in Angul district (47.48 acres), Jinda India Thermla Power Ltd at Deranga near Talcher (252.6 acres), Bhushan Energy Ltd at Banarpal in Angul district (8.4 acres), Tata Power Ltd (62.67 acres) at Naraj near Cuttack, Visa Power at Brahmanbasta in Cuttack district (159.96 acres), GMR Energy Ltd at Kamalanga in Dhnekanal district (58.8 acres) and Sterlite Energy Ltd at Banjari near Jharsuguda (33.78 acres) have been given a total of 623.69 acres of government land.
Idco has also allotted 470.42 acres of land to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd at Paradeep for its proposed 15 mtpa oil refinery.
