Housing.co.in, a map-based real estate search portal, offers this approach to buyers who go house hunting for either buying or renting the flat.

Map-based search will show neighbourhood information like nearby parks, schools, restaurants, grocery stores, nightclubs and lot more for every flat on their website. Once you zero-in on a flat, you can also check for the options to travel by with the available public transport in that area.

Like other real estate portals, this one also helps you get information on the available properties and the person (broker/landlord) to be contacted there. The only difference here is, that the customer here gets a real picture of the locality he is looking at. For instance, the map-based technology helps you get real time pictures of the surroundings you are about to live in.

The photos uploaded and data collected ensures accuracy and authenticity. Advitiya Sharma, is the Co-founder and Marketing Head of Housing.co.in says, "We don't upload the information about the property given by landlords or real estate brokers unless our data collection team ensures its accuracy. For instance, the team visits every flat listed on our portal, geo-codes it, collects picture and other relevant details before uploading them on our portal. This inspection takes less than a day."

The portal also does a housing lifestyle rating, where they give score to a property based on the person's housing requirements.

The portal gets around 40,000 hits everyday. As of now they give details about properties in cities like Mumbai, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore out of which maximum enquiries come from the Mumbai region, says Aditya. He further said that, in the next two months they will start giving details about properties in Chennai and Delhi as well.

For a broker to list his property on this portal, he will have to shell out a half yearly fee of Rs. 5,000 whereas, an annual subscription would cost him Rs. 8,000 respectively.
