At a time when Mahindra and Mahindra's (M&M) overall tractor sales dipped by 1.1 per cent during the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal, the company recorded highest sales of tractors in Gujarat at 5,566 units during April to June this year on the back of good demand for its mini-tractor Yuvraj.
It also achieved the highest ever market share in the state at 37 per cent.
Affected by the weak monsoons this year, M&M's tractor sales fell by 1.11 percent to 56,861 units in April-June period from 57,500 units in the same period last year.
Pawan Goenka, president (Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors) of M&M had said earlier this month that the company expects tractor sales to register 0-2 per cent adding that while tractor sales in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Bihar have declined during the quarter, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat have seen good growth.
As for Gujarat, the company said that the Yuvraj 215, the country's first 15 horsepower (HP) light weight compact tractor, has been gaining ground in the Gujarat market. Around 1,000 units of the Yuvraj were sold in June itself, M&M said in a statement.
Also, the company recently launched Mahindra Bhoomiputra 265 DI MKM Power Plus, a 35 HP fuel efficient and versatile tractor powered by a new hydraulic system called Robolift Hydraulics .
M&M said that the new Bhoomiputra has received a good response in Gujarat as well.
Speaking on the occasion,Avinash Patankar, senior vice president, sales & channel Development, farm equipment sector, M&M said “At M&M, we have always pioneered products to increase farm productivity and enhance rural prosperity. We have always strived to deliver technologically superior products to the farming community at reasonable and affordable prices.
The Mahindra portfolio aptly fits the farmer’s technological requirements to carry out farming smoothly."
The Mahindra R&D team has created the new age Robolift Hydraulics system on the new Bhoomiputra 265 Power Plus. Robolift Hydraulics is suited for both Agri and Haulage usage and has a new precision control valve which enables faster lifting and lowering of the speed of implements.
The system also has a unique three point hitching mechanism.
