The global financial crisis will not affect the time-schedule of the much awaited auction of third generation (3G) spectrum.

"Auction is on schedule, though we had hoped that it would've been completed by the end of this year, but due to some holidays that have coincided the process will be completed by mid-January," said a Department of Telecom official.

Some of the telecom operators have requested the DoT to delay the auction process due to the global financial crunch.

The RBI recently raised the limit for external commercial borrowings (ECB) for telecom companies to be able to finance their 3G bids.
