The Andhra Pradesh High Court here declined on Tuesday to stay the state government order cancelling the city’s Metro Rail project award to Maytas Infra, the company promoted by the family of Satyam Computers’ disgraced founder, Ramalinga Raju.

On July 7, the government cancelled the Rs 12,132-crore contract for failing to achieve financial closure. On July 24, it began the formal process for inviting fresh bids.

Maytas Infra director B Narasimha Rao’s petition says the cancellation is illegal. The HC said it would hear the petition but not prevent the government from receiving the fresh bids. The next hearing is on August 11.

Sale of Satyam
The HC also dismissed yesterday, on time-barred grounds, a petition from Supreme Court lawyer M L Sharma challenging the sale of Satyam Computer Services to Tech Mahindra by the Company Law Board (CLB). Sharma argued the Centre had no right to dispose of the company.

Lie detector
Also, the court posted to August 6 a petition filed by the counsels of Ramalinga Raju opposing a lower court order allowing the CBI to conduct a lie detector test and brain mapping on him, his brother and former financial head.
