The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) has expressed disappointment with the Railway Budget for not addressing the long-standing demand of rail connectivity to Baddi, Nalagarh and Nalagarh industrial hub.
“Connecting Baddi is urgent, as this will not only help sustain the industry but also attract new investments,” said chairman of PHDCCI, Himachal wing Dhian Chand.
“Transportation of goods has become a major concern for the industry here as the Pinjore-Nalagarh road is in poor shape. Moving goods by railways will also be cost effective,” Chand said today at the PHCCI meeting.
The chamber felt the government must develop the existing and new townships and industrial areas. Building hospitals, education centres and entertainment parks was necessary for the industrial unit owners and workers to stay in Baddi rather than travel every day to Chandigarh, it felt.
