PNB FY10 net up 24% to Rs 3,973 cr

State-run Punjab National Bank (PNB) today reported a 24.26 per cent growth in consolidated net profit at Rs 3,972.67 crore for the fiscal ended March 31, 2010, on the back of higher interest income.

Total income of the country's second-largest public sector lender rose to Rs 26,436.74 crore during FY'10, from Rs 22,636.79 crore in the year ago period, PNB said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

During the fiscal, the bank's interest income rose by 12.28 per cent to Rs 21,982.39 crore, from Rs 19,578.71 crore.

On standalone basis, PNB reported a 26.35 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 3,905.35 crore for 2009-10.

Shares of PNB closed at Rs 983.15, down 0.12 per cent over the previous close on the BSE.
