Raymond in alliance with UP govt

The fabric maker would train the marginalised and unemployed youth in the state for becoming tailors

Fabric maker Raymond has collaborated with the Uttar Pradesh government to train the marginalised and unemployed youth in the state for becoming tailors.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the company and UP Skill Development Society under the state’s Vocational Education and Skill Development Department in the presence of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav recently.

The social initiative has been undertaken by Skilled Training Institute by Raymond, a public charitable trust of the Raymond group.

The institute will set up state-of-the-art training centers in Lucknow, Varanasi, Meerut, Ghaziabad and Agra. These would be set up within the state Industrial Training Institutes.

“We would like to offer unemployed youth from socio-economically deprived sections an opportunity to be trained on modern machinery that empowers them to upgrade their tailored product quality in terms of finish and style,” Raymond vice-president (emerging businesses), Ram Bhatnagar, said.

He said the company’s institute had received good response in Bihar and Rajasthan.

The training institute would offer courses ranging from basic tailoring to specialised courses in stitching shirts, trousers, jackets, kurtas, sherwanis and jodhpuris.

Students will be trained in tailoring crafts like body measurement, pattern making and drafting, cutting, stitching and specialised operations, finishing and packaging.

The courses are listed under Modular Employability Skills of Director General of Employment and Labour.
