Sabeer Bhatia's new firm Jaxtr to sell SIMs in 4 countries

Plans to expand reach to around 30 countries by next year

Hotmail co-founder Sabeer Bhatia-backed Jaxtr is planning to launch a common sim card which could be used in various countries. To start with the sim cards would be launched in four countries - the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and Mexico, while there are plans to expand to around 30 countries by next year.

Speaking to a few reporters in the sidelines of formal launch of the back office of his new company AMP Technologies in India, in Chennai, Bhatia said: "We are planning offer a new sim card which could be used across the countries." Starting in the four countries in a few months, plans are to launch the card in at least 30 countries next year, he added.

Jaxtr, which is into communication-related business, with its operations in international calling, short message service (SMS) along with social networking, offering free SMS and free calling services across various countries.

AMP technologies, a cloud-based software and services company financed by Bhatia, is expected to cater to global commercial real estate industry to manage its investment performance analytics.

While the development and service will happen in Chennai, the company's customers will be real estate companies based in the US. The US real estate market is estimated to be around 50% of the global $1 trillion.

The industry currently doesn't have access to informations and the antiquated system used in their own real estate investments so they set out to create a real estate platform or what is now AMP technologies, said Sabeer Bhatia, co-founder and chairman, AMP Technologies.

The company today announced opening of a new 250 seat facility in Chennai. The Chennai facility currently has 100 people and it will be increased to 1,000 by 2015.

AMP product will be a cloud-based and there is no need for the installation of hardware, software, databases, maintenances or upgrades.

The company was formed in 2010 and since then a lot of R&D has gone into developing the products said Neel Naicker, co-founder & CEO of the company.

The company has an offshore services offering to provide commercial real estate investors, owners and operators with cost effective, and high-quality lease administration, finance and accounting and due diligence services using the AMP platform.
