Samsung India on Tuesday inaugurated its split airconditioner manufacturing line at the Sriperumbudur facility, near here.
This is the company’s fifth AC manufacturing facility in the world and will have a production capacity of 50,000 units per month.
Speaking on the occasion, Jung Soo Shin, president and chief executive officer, Samsung Southwest Asia, said, “We expect split ACs to contribute over 65 per cent to our AC volumes this year.” The company is targeting a 20 per cent share in the Indian market by the end of the year.
The facility would cater to southern and western regions. South is the largest contributor to its Split AC sales nationally, he said.
The company had earlier said it planned to invest around $70 million over the next two years to set a up manufacturing facility for home appliances — refrigerators and air conditioners — at Sriperumbudur.
