Second Infosys campus to be operational by April 2014

The company was allotted 50 acres of land for its second campus

The second campus of IT major Infosys in Odisha will be operational by April 2014 at Info Valley (Infocity-II), which is being developed by the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco), on the outskirt of Bhubaneswar.

The IT bellwether has its first campus at the Infocity. It is the anchor tenant for the Info Valley project. The company was allotted 50 acres of land for its second campus.

“A sector specific SEZ for IT/ITES/BPO industries at Goudakashipur, Bhubaneswar, called Info Valley (Infocity-II) is being developed by Idco over 500 acres of land”, said Pratap Keshari Deb, Minister (Independent charge), IT department.

“External infrastructure like 4 lane approach road from NH-5, boundary wall and power supply to carry out construction work have been taken up in the first phase. Allotment for 50.919 acres land to Infosys, the anchor tenant, has been made to set up their unit in the SEZ notified area. The unit will be operational during April, 2014”, Deb said in written reply to the state assembly.

He stated that another 180 acres of land is being developed as Electronic System Designing and Manufacturing (ESDM) cluster by Idco jointly with Odisha Computer Application Centre.Meanwhile, Singapore based Jurong Consultancy Pte. is engaged to prepare the master plan of the Info Valley.

To give boost to the ICT sector, the IT department has formulated a new ICT policy to attract 10 leading IT/ITES and five leading ESDM companies to the state by 2020.

The draft policy aims to achieve a gross ICT turnover (including exports of software and IT Services, ESDM, domestic consumption and training) of 4 billion dollar by the end of the current decade.It also targets to achieve direct employment of 60,000 professionals in 800 IT/ITES/ESDM units and create a built-up space of 60 lakh square feet and a developed land bank of 2000 acres for IT/ITES/ESDM sectors.

In a separate reply, the minister said that as many as 12275 people are employed in the IT sector in the state and the IT exports in 2012-13 from Odisha stood at Rs 1947.35 crore.
