SKF India and Trinity Engineering, makers of auto components, have announced block closures at their Pune plant as their products’ demand has fallen sharply over the last two months.
While SKF India would be out of operations for 10 days beginning December 22, Trinity Engineering pulled down its shutters on December 10 for six days. There are more than 1,000 permanent workers at SKF India’s plant at Chinchwad near here.
The company, which already cut around 300 jobs since October, had recently shut its auto components division for a few days following sharp fall in demand. SKF India, which has a presence in more than 70 countries, manufactures bearings and other auto components at its Chinchwad plant.
