Somany Ceramics, a leading player in the Indian ceramic industry, today said it is eyeing a growth of 30% this fiscal and also plans to introduce 30 new designs in collaboration with leading design houses in Spain and Italy.

The company registered a 25% growth last year, when the industry grew between 15-16%. The company's turnover in the last financial year was Rs 800 crore. Somany Ceramics, Joint Managing Director Abhishek Somany told reporters here.

He said that the industry is facing threat from the unorganised market in Morvi in Gujarat and government should take steps to help the organised sector.

The total tile industry business is estimated at Rs 14,000 crore, 70% of which was in the unorganised sector. In the remaining 30%, Somany's market share was 18%, he said.

On the Kerala market, he said it was the number two market after Tamil Nadu and the company is targeting a business of Rs 110 crore this year against Rs 85 crore last year.

The tiles are manufactured at its units at Ahmedabad and Haryana with a production capacity of one lakh square metres per day which includes contract manufacturing.

Earlier, he inaugurated 'Somany Global Exclusive’ showroom at Edappally in Kochi, exhibiting one of the most exquisite imported tile collections from across the world through state-of-the-art mock-up displays.
