Tata Engineering is planning to launch four new variants of its multi-utility vehicle (MUV) Sumo with upgraded features.
The move is aimed at taking on the revamped Toyota Qualis and the newly-launched Scorpio from Mahindra & Mahindra.
The company is expected to make a formal announcement on the product revamp plan tomorrow.

The new variants, to be launched under the Plus series, will cover the entire Sumo range, including vehicles built for sub-segments such as ambulances and tourist vehicles.
Though the exact pricing details could not be ascertained, the vehicles are expected to be priced below Rs 6 lakh. The four new variants are Sumo SA Plus, SE Plus, Ezi Plus and Ex Plus.
Sources at Tata Engineering confirmed that plans were afoot to launch new Sumo variants, but declined to give further details.
