TVS Motors' Sudarshan Venu to tie the knot

Wedding bells are set to ring in the TVS family, this time for Sudarshan Venu, son of TVS Motor Chairman and Managing Director Venu Srinivasan and Tafe Chairman Mallika Srinivasan.

The 25 year old TVS family scion is expected to marry Tara, daughter of Ravi Sam, who runs firms in steel, paint and textile (spinning) sectors. Her mother Uttara, daughter of Late D Jayavarthanavelu, is from the Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW) family.

According to sources close to the development, the marriage is expected to take place in the second half of the year.

It may be noted that Lakshmi Venu, daugher of Venu Srinivasan, is married to Rohan Murthy, son of Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy.

Sudarshan Venu was included into the Board of TVS Motors last year as an additional director of the company.

He completed his graduation in 2010 with Honors at the Jerome Fisher Programme in Management and Technology at the University of Pennsylvania. He also pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Sudarshan completed his Masters in International Technology Management from the Warwick Manufacturing Group, an academic department at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom.

While pursuing his masters, Sudarshan underwent training in die casting division of Sundaram Clayton and in TVS Motor company, now the fourth largest two-wheeler company in the country.

Sudarshan came to limelight in 2011 during the launch of the new 125 CC bike Phoenix, when he initiated the press conference by arriving on the stage on the new motorcycle.

LMW, founded in the year 1962, is a listed company and among the three manufacturers of the entire range of textile machinery, claims the company. The company was started by the Laksmi Mills family through a technical tie up with Swiss-based textile machinery manufacturer Rieter to manufacture textile machines, according to reports. The company has expertise in textile machinery manufacturing, machine tools manufacturing, and a division to supply components for aerospace industry, mainly focused on engine, structural and landing gear parts.
